Woke up to a snowy and rainy Tokyo today. School cancelled due to chaotic traffic…
It was terribly slippery and quite dangerous to walk outside, but Max loved it…Most snow gone in the afternoon..
We walked around the park for 3 hours and Max already asked to go back tomorrow…
Shinjuku Gyoen is a national garden has three styled gardens, a Japanese traditional garden, an English landscape garden and a French formal garden.
We took a walk through Arisugawa koen and played with leaves and admired the flowers in the trees…early spring…
Tokyo skytree, the world’s tallest tower, is 634 meter. We took the elevator to floor 350. It took 50 seconds…
It was a bit hazy but we could see Mt Fuji in the horizon.
Snack time and one floor below to the glass floor..taking pictures of our feet…
Almost ready…some more brushing needed…
Sam relaxes after a day in school…
Highlights of Japanese Art. Max truly enjoyed the “attire of the military elite”. I preferred the “fashion in the Edo period”.
Finished off with a walk around Ueno lake, which in the summer time is filled with beautiful Lotus flowers.
Max and I went to Tokyo National Museum to see an exhibition of the Great terracotta army from China’s first emperor. It was pretty amazing!
Time for some play before picking up Sam from school..
and lunch at Hard Rock cafe..
The dinosaurs were a hit of course, then we moved on to science and technology.
We enjoyed the hands on displays, even if it was a bit hard to understand the directions in Japanese…
Amazed to see the intestines of a cow, and a whale…
15 in the shade…we have lunch on our terrace today again!
Most places are closed on New years day but we did find one park that was open…
Then we went home for afternoon coffee on our lovely roof terrace
