    The small Jizo statues are placed by parents mourning their children,  lost by miscarriage,  stillbirth or abortion.  The statues remain for about a year.

    Hase -dera, a Buddhist temple in Kamakura. Beautiful gardens and buildings and a lovely view of the bay.

    We started our trip in Kamakura to go and admire the great Buddha, that was built around 1250s. It is 13 m high and the principle diety of the temple.

    Lena took me to a store full of washi papers and boxes of all kinds.  Here you can buy papers to glue on any kind of box….tissue boxes, tea boxes or any kind of box to keep things in…need I say it was impossible to choose…

    We had a Chabako workshop today.
    Cha=tea bako =box. The box is made of cedar and it is lined with tin. Perfect for keeping things (like tea) dry. We covered the boxes with washi paper and they turned out beautiful!

    This was the entrance to Shinjuku park…so we decided not to get in line…

    We did manage to find a spot further into the park where it was a little bit less crowded…

    It was crowded beyond belief, but still a lot of fun, people watching as much as enjoying the cherry blossoms and taking part of this massive celebration!

    Max and I walked along Meguro river. From Meguro, where it’s wider to Naka Meguro where it’s more narrow and the branches meet over the water. It was absolutely breathtaking.  So beautiful. Very crowded, but it did not matter…

    Max and I took the train up to Ueno park, one of the top spots for cherry blossoms.  It was incredibly crowded, but still nice for admiring sakura… and for people watching…
